On Monday evening Private A. W. Robertson, of the Fifteenth Reinforcements, was presented with* a handsome wristlet watch by the members of the I staff of Messrs Boon ayd Co., where he was formerly employed. Mr T, R. Wallace, secretary of the Institute of Marine Engineers, and Mr C. M-Kirdy, engineer of the Wellington Hospital, will leave Wellington today by tlio Paloona for Melbourne, where "they wili attend the four-yearly conference* of the Australasian Institute. The Wellington delegates expect to be away for about three weeks. Mr S. Bcrnecli will act as secretary at Wellington in tb» interim. The Hon J. A. Hanan is spending to-day attending to educational affairs in Christchurch. This morning Mr L. M. Isitt, M.P., introduced to him 3lr T. S. Foster, principal of the Training College, and Mr 0. T. Aschman, headmaster of the Normal School, and they discussed with him questions associated with the work of training colleges. ■ Dr Elinor Baker, medical instructor in schools, had an interview with the Minister, and explained the physical instruction given in the Christchurch schools.
