V.C. AND BRILLIANT RECORD. [Pee Press Association.] . DUNEDIN, April 8. Lieutenant H. R. Martineau, V.C., formerly, transport officer of the Otago Infantry Battalion, who returned invalided by the Maherio, died in the Dliftedin Hospital this morning^ Lieutenant Martineau won his Y.O. at Game Tree in December, 1899, during tha Boer war, when he was three times' wounded, and his. left arm was amputated. He was recommended tor the distinction by "Major, now 1 GeneralSir Alexander Godley. He also saw service in the Matabele campaign; and the Natal native rebellion.
