SUMNER SPORTS.

FOR So. 3 QUEEN. A'patriotic sports meeting was held on the Sumner beach this afternoon, in aid of No. 3 (Hills) Queen in the Girl Queen election. A fancy dress procession, including an ancient hansom cab and high bicycio, and many funny characters, paraded the streets and caused much amusement. The races resulted:— •Girls' School Championship.—H. Bamford 1, E. Newman 2, G. Carpenter 3. Boys' School Championship.—E. Allen 1, A. Yatenjan 2, J. Styclie 3. Girls (under twelve.) —N. Proctor 1, H. Bamford 2. Boys (under twelve). —W. Carpenter 1, A. Marcantelli 2. Girls (under ten). —V. Graham 1, D. Ferguson and' J. Mitchell (equal) 2. Boys (under ten).—L. Simmonds 1, H. Ogier 2. A trotting race of half a mile, for draught horses, caused much amusement, and resulted in a win for G. Blazey's Tip Dray, with "W. F. Heyes's Gas Meter eeoond t and T. &. Whitfield's- Good Thing third.
