LADY LIVERPOOL DEPOT NOTES.

Mrs Holland, the Mayoress, the president of the depot, is enjoying a wellearned holiday for a few days at Timaru. Ihiring her absence Mrs Neville is taking charge of the working of the depot. . ®

-Mrs Pain, the honorary secretary of the bouth Marlborough branch, paid a visit to the depot this week^ A general meeting was held on Monday at the Council Chambers. Mrs Holland presided. There was a good attendance of town and country representatives. The report presented by the president was considered highly satisfactory. At the conclusion of°tho meeting a presentation of'a handsome silver rose bowl was made to Mr and Mrs Gilby. *

Mrs Chilton, who is at the head of the housewife and hold-all department, would like all thoso who have undertaken work for her this month to return it if possible by the fifteenth, as she is • anxious to pack the month's quota. 750 of each, before Easter. Tire committee's appeal for fruit met with a good response. Largo quantities have been sent to the Trenthara camp for the Canterbury men. Most appreciative letters have been received from some of .them, and it is to bo hoped that it will be able to send a weekly consignment. Apples, in particular, are much appreciated. From numerous letters received at the depot from boys at the front it is gratifying for the committee to know" that they are now regularly receiving tho Dominion parcels. The following is an extract from a letter received from Captain N. J. Wray, 10th Nelson Squadron, who wrote to the honorary secretary from Zeitun camp:—"The parcels arrived in perfect condition, quite different, I am pleased to say, from what they would have been if sent through the post in the ordinary way. . . . Chocolates, soap, socks and handkerchiefs are very useful gifts." The acknowledgments were made on the writing block paper which had been sent in the parcels. A welcome change will be made in the order of the parcels this month and next through the generosity of the I Christchurch Meat Company and the Canterbury Frozen Meat Company. Generous donations from both companies will enable us to add a large tin of tongues to many of the parcels. A contribution of 350 tins of honey through the Hon R. 11. Rhodes, of Tai Tapu, will also be included in the parcels. Help is accorded the fund from many sources. A lady interested in and cognisant of the depot needs gave a "handkerchief afternoon" this week. Then a party of "Little People" held; n afu't'iiocm, and as a result a sub-i stantial contribution of cigarettes was; received. i The Timani a:id Uokirika branches ' have both already sent- in their quota ' of parcels lor this month's shipment.
