Ho was on 6of the best known draughts players in Glasgow, and was recognised "as a fair'player when he arrived! in Glasgow from Fraserburgh s-ome . eighteen years ngo. He threw in his lot with the old "South Side" Club and took a Leading part in its affairs. Since then he played,' for Kinning Park Conservatives, St Geors-e's. Tontine and Bridgeton Clubs. Ho had at ono timo such a. grasp of tho "Waterloo", that few players would play 11 —15 against him before the balloted openings became so popular. He once entered the Scottish tourney, playing as "J. Hay," and he won several club tourneys.
