OTAGO ALSOBENEFITS. (Per Press Association.] DUNUMN, October 6. Splendid rain set in last night, and was general throughout tho province, from half to three-quarters of an inch falling. Much relief will bo afforded in North Otago and parts of Central Ota go, where, the position was very grave. The '-Scar's'' special correspondent at Methven says that after a month with only eight points of rain, Mothveil fanners were pleased to see the showers that commenced to fall about six o'clock last night, and which have continued since then. The amount registered up to noon was 9o points.
