Ihe cash receipts for the nine months ended September 30 amounted to £50.221 2s 7d, as against £-55,810 Is 2d for the corresponding term of last year- The bank book on the table showed the harbour fund to be in credit and there was a turn of £-105 lis id standing to the credit of the special fund account. In addition, there was £4OOO on deposit with the Chn-stchuroh Oitv Council.' The unpaid accounts to be passed for payment to-day rota Ilea £1124 10s Bd. During the month of September 206 vessels, comprising 17 oversea and ISO coastal and intercolonial vessels, entered the port of Lyttelton, with a. total net tonnage of 180,810 tons, as against 190 vessels, aggregating 178,535 tons, during the corresponding month of last year. ENGINEER'S REPORT. Tho engineer, in his report for September, .slated that the dredge Canterbury had been engaged at the outer channel and in various parts of the inner harbour. Her total dredgmgs for the month amounted to lbi,o<o tons, of which 122.850 tons were lifted from tho outer channel, and 38,220 tons from the inner harbour. The Harbour Improvement Commit.- I tee reported that it had deferred con- j sideration of the erection of a jetty J at Rapaki until its next meeting., and j had asked the engineer to submit a re- j port on the probable revenue to be de- i rived from the jetty. The committee j considered Messrs Carru titers and El- j liott's letter dated July 10. 1915, with \ reference to the workmanship in the i boilers of tho dredge Canterbury, together with a report from the superintendent of Lloyd's surveyors, and recommended that their services as inspecting engineers will not again be availed of by the present board.' 1 The report was adopted. MISCELLANEOUS. The sum of £3944 13s was p-ssed for payment on the recommendation of the Finance Committee. The next meeting was fixed for 11 a.m. on November 3, in Christchurch.
