I In view of the lighting in tho Dardanelles, tho prophecy of Sybilles, which , was discovered in threo books at MarI seilles in 1821, on the day of the death of Napoleon the Great, the fateful day of the great Emperor having been prophesied therein, the following extract will be of interest just now. The prophecy is said to' have been originally written in the latter days of tho Roman Empire, and is in the form of a dialogue between tno prophetess and King Solomon. Kit*; Solomon asks Sybilles: "How d'ocs it faro with the city of the Halfmoon ? : ' She replies: "'The timo of this world passes'. She shall sorrow for tho time to come. The land of the Half-moon is vain and rich, but nevertheless her lazy sons art; poor aud her beautiful daughters are slaves. The sign of the Half-moon shall no more rise in power. Egypt has bravo men, and these will go to the land of tho Porte, and Constantinople will fall. Her son.s will fight in vain. The sons of Egypt will rise gloriously, and they will light and kill along the beaches in the west, but before this happens all Europe will be lighting like .wild animals with eaoh other. Then wdl come a great illness over all the land, and the earth shall be covered' with corpses. This will be at its worst in Southern Europe. In this great war uew weapons or destrue-, tion will bo used—not steel, or lead, or fire with its biting tongue, but such as will bo made with much art, and it will spread out over the armies as a vapour, and «oine will be charged with rai&ijes that will kill by the :,'i.illion.
