CARNIVAL AT DIAMOND HARBOUR The carnival to take place at Diamond Harbour, Lyttelton, on Saturday, October IM, in nirl of the Wounded Soldiers Fund., promises to be onr of tbo mo«t successful functions ret. held' in the port. Radeliffc) presiding over a large attendance. Letters were received from . Sir •Joseph Ward and the Hon G. "W. Russell, extending their patronage to the carnival. Mr E. R. Carter, chairman of the Sports Committee, reported that the Lyttelton Coastal Defence Corps and Boys' Scouts, together with the Rapaki Maoris, had signified their intention of supporting tho carnival. Mr D. Comer, chairman of the Aquatic Committee, submitted a draft programme of events, which was approved. It was arranged that the executive and the chairmen of the various committees should visit Diamond Harbour on Thursday next to lay out the ground. Mr W. T. Foster reported that tho auction sale wa« being well supported, and it was hoped to make a good display. Several residents of the. peninsula had donated sheep and firewood.
