THE KAISER'S FORTUNE.
DIMINISHEDJYJHE WAR. REPORT SHRINKAGE OF< £4,000,000. PARIS, July 30. A report that the Kaiser's private fortune has been diminished by £'4,000.000 since the war began, has led to discussion as to his wealth. When the war contribution was Jevied in Germany a few years ago the Kaiser was placed first in his empire _as having the greatest meonie, £1,100,000 a year but third as regards the amount of fortune, ranking after Mdme Bertha Krupp von Bohlen, with £11.520,000. and an income of £040,000. and Prince Henekel von Donnersmnrck, £.10,160.000, and. an income of £520.000. VISIBLE ASSETS AND INCOME. According to this official return the Kaiser's visible income was composed of his civil list. £875,000; rents and products of Crown forests, £175.000; 2iiid interests on the Crown treasure, £78,000. His visible assets were entered as real estate. Crown forests, etc., £3.500.000; building property, £2.000-000; property and land in Berlin, £900,000: # totalling £6,400,000. In n nney the Kaiser possessed : 1. The Crown treasure formed aftcr Jena bv Frederick William 111. of £750.000 (half of which was not to be touched except under stress of a severe crisis), and increased by William I. by £250.000, taken from' the war '.indemnity by France in 1871. 2. His share of the personal wealth left bv William 1., the total of which was £4,000.000. .'{. An unknown sum representing investments made since lie came to the throne. HEAVY HOLDER. OF STOCKS. The nr'nint these investments represent is not exactly known, hut he is a. heavy holder *in the HamburgAmerica ii Line, the Rcichsbank. and ;ibnvc all in Krupps. His name docs not figure on the official lists of shareholders in these companies, but the shares I here given as belonging first to M. Mullcr and afterwards to M. Grimm.
