PEACE MEDAL AWARDED TO PRESIDENT WILSON.
* SAN FRANCESCO, August 22. The principal feature of the Nation;)! Education. Association Conference wa-s tho mass meeting in Iho municipal auditorium of Oakland of the American School Peace League, at which the gold medal given annually for the most signal service in the cause of peace was awarded to President Wilson. Professor David Starr Jordan, in awarding the medal, said: "This award is made in view of Mr Wilson's eminent services to the cause of law, which is the cause of i>eace. Peace is the duration of law, while war is the_ resultant chaos when law is defied. These services) are shown in that to President Wilson is primarily duo the fact that this republic has remained law-abiding despite currents of fear, hato and excitement, and stands firm on the only basis on which civilisation can be restored or oeaee, maintained—-the foundation of law."
