. CHRISTCHUECH CLUB. A general moating of the Christchurch BowLng Club was he d in the pavilion last night, Mr W. H. Clark presiding over a gcod attendance. The chairman congratulated the sub-coni-mittee on the very great improvement that had been effected in the pavilion, and a vote of thanks wa,3 accorded to the gentlemen concerned, Messrs S. Manning, A. S. G-urney and W. H. Helliwell. Mr HelLwell stated that the tender was in the vicinity of £3OO, but, wi.h the additional appoin.ments regarded as desirable, the contract camo to £350, and the pavilion was now adequate for '.he needs of the club for all time. C-ntr.butiona from £3 down to 5s had been given towards the funnstui:g, and the sub-committee bad been able to fi. up twenty new lockers and purchase a number of new chairs. A sum of ±'2o was icquired to balance the club's account, and a furnishing ievy would pivbabiy be made. The lookers had been apportioned to different members, who had each given £l, which paid for each locker and provided the price of a. chair also. The lmoieum had been a gift. (2) Each competitor to receive printed copy of dates of rounds fcr ail competitions, no other notice to be given. (3) 'lie first-mentioned player or skip of each pair of competitors as drawn is tp be the challenger. He must move to have the match played. If he neglects to da so he is the one to be scratched. If he gives notice three days before the date cf closing" the round that a game «mld not be arranged by agreement, the Sports Committee will fix time and date on which the game must be played. (4) All championship games, singles, doubles, or rinka will bo played on the two-life system. (5) A general club handicap will be made out. Any team requiring a substitute must select a p'ayer at least one point lower on the list than the absentee. (6) For general Saturday afternoon play, players will put iheir name in the secretary's box up to 2.15 p.m. on Saturday, when the teams for the afternoon will be arranged by the Sports Committ-ee. (7) The Sports Committee to consist of three member*, such Sports Comm ttee to have full and final con'.rol of all the play, inducting select, on of teams for inter-club matches arranged by the directorate. A vote of thanks was accorded to the subcommittee. The chairman announced that Messrs A Dickson, S. Manning and R. Torrance had been appointed a Sports Committee to control play and match games. It was agreed to open the gTcen on October 9 with a social day limited to members, the understand ng being that an invitation day #iu>uld be held later.
