A STAMP CHARGE.
ACCDSED REMANDED. [Per Prkss Association.] DUNEDIN, October 1. William Lawrence Hooper appeared at the Police Court this morn.ng charged With having received adhcs.ve stamps to tho va.ue of £4O, tho property of the Government, knowing them to be dishonestly obtained. ChiefDuoeolime Bishop applied for a .remand in order to bring a witness from "Weliiugtcvj. He also announced that four other minor informations had been laid, but were not indictable. Three Mere for breaches of the Stamp Ac* and one for a breach of the Po->t and Telegraph Act. Defendant's oounsel entered a plea of not guilty. A remand was granted until Friday next.
