CANTERBURY TRADES AND LABOUR COUNCIL

Tho Canterbury Trades and Labour Council met j n Saturday, Mr C. Renn presiding. New delegates were welcomed from the General Labourers' Union. The chairman mentioned that Mr T. Price, a delegate from the Engineers' Union, had passed away since the last meeting, and moved that a letter of condolence be sent to the relatives of deceased. The motion was carried in silence, members standing. The Hon G. W. Russell. M.P., and Mr G. Witty, M.P., wrote acknowledging receipt of council's protest against the National Registration Bill. Tho letters were received. Tho National Ponce Council wrote roqueting tho appointment of delegates from the Council. The letter was received. and Messrs W. J. Roberts and W. H. Johnston were appointed. A proposal to become affiliated with the Union of Democratic Control was discussed, and referred to the affiliated unions for consideration. In accordance with a. previous decision the question of affiliation with the proposed New Zealand Board oi Trade and Industries was considered. It was resolved-That a committee of nine be set up to interview a committee of tho Industrial Association to further discus, tho matter." The following committee was elected-Messrs W. Williams, W. H. Johnston, P. Kerr, W. E. Woodhaiw, W. Redly, C. Renn, E. Wilson, W, G. Rogers and W. Colo.
