Of love we neither spoke a word, Nor even named its name. As wo walked through the shaded street Returning from the game; And yet it seems that she and l Must have our levo confessed; For, from tho beating of our hearts, We each could guess the rest. Yes, a,s wo slowly strolled along, While 011 this quiet walk, Our spirits musit have met and had A cWr, though silent, talk; Because before wo reached the place To which we wero> to go, I knew, without a spoken word, That which I wished to know. Now when our walk was ended and We parted at tho gate, I'd T.on that eve my sweetheart true, For I had asked her straight; And now tluit Time has set his seal Upon our happy life, I'm willing to confess to all That she is now my wife.
