RECRUITING IN CHRISTCHURCH.
INFANTRY AND TUNNELLERS NEEDED. Colonel R. x\. Chaff ey, officer commanding tho Canterbury district, states that infantry and tunnellers still aro in demand. It is not desired to draw miners from tho coal mines to such an , extent as to interfere with the iu4us- 1 try, but coal miners as well as Sold i miners will be acceptable. Most of tho ' tunnellers from Canterbury are being | drawn from the West Coast, and , Colonel Chaffey speaks gratefully of the services rendered there by Mr Lornie in helping the authorities. ;
