XYTTELTON CLUB. The firafc -annual meeting of the Lytiellon Bowling Club was lield in the Excelsior Hall I last, evening-. Tho president Mr J. T. Norton, was in the chair, and there was a good | attendance. ( The presiden',, in reviewing tho work of tho year, said that matters had progressed as far as w«s possible with the initial stages of laying out the green in Oxford Street. The waiting had been completed, but tho progress of the green hod been retarded by the absence of rain. The club had become affiliated to the Canterbury Centre of tho iNew Zealand Bowling Council, and members had already received recognition in other towns. It was hoped to open green towards the end of the year. Th-e financial aspect of tho club w«s one that required earnest consideration. Up to the present sixty-eight members had paid their first, subscription of one guinea, but outside of this no revenue .had been received. The expenditure to date h-ad been £4lB 15s Bu, the principal item bein<* £323 6s lid for laying down the green and erecting fences and wads. The club's total indebtedness was £347 7s 3d. A few members had guaranteed tho overdraft, but in some quarters it was considered that enthusiasts should havo the opportunity of taking up . debentures, if thought desirable. . In reply to Mr J. Garrard, the president stated that the total estimated expenditure, including tho erection ot ci pavilion, was £l5O. The annual revenue was estimated sit £l6O, which whs expected to leavo a surplus of about £69. Mr J. Garrard said ho doubted whether tho green could be run at the estimated outlay. Ho thought every effort should be made to raiio tho membership to one hundred. 'J.ho report was adoped. On tho motion of Mr W. T. Foster, seconded by Mr F. Norton, it was decided to empower the committee to issue debentures tip to £3oi\ to reduce the overdraft. Officers were elected as follow,: —President, Mr J. T. Norton; vice-presidents, Messrs W. Brown, G. C. Smith and C. 11. Agar; secretary, Mr E. H. Henderson; assistant secretary, Mr G. A., Smith; treasurer, Mr W. Brown; gpn-rra.l committee, Messrs J. J.. Norton, W. 'Brown, G. C.
