FOR RETURNED TROOPERS.
...... A CONVALESCENT HOME. "THE LODGE," HAJOIER. With an efficiency that has evoked great praise, the people or the Anuiri have equipped '"The -Lodge," Hanmer. as a convalescent home for returned soldiers. An energetic committee, with Mr Duncan Rutherford at its head', has charge of affairs, and tlie people of the county are now ready and willing to act as hosts to the men who wfut to the front to do their hit." On Thursday the first batch of in on will leave for Hanmer -Springs, and it is thought that many more would" enjoy a stay at this* well-known health resort if they knew chat- a home had been prepared specially for them. All that a returned soldier needs to do : s to get- a. recommendation from ' tiicDistrict Health Officer, Dr Chesson. and the Defence Department will provide for *s conveyance to Hanmer. About half a dozen men will go up on. Thursday, but '"The Lodge'" can accommodate large company, and it i« hoped by those who are respoi7sib'e for the men and by the Amuri. people that the soldiers will take advantage of the hospitality offered.
