Mr F. G. Hobbs is at present visiting Wellington. Lieutenant X. Barstow arrived from the north to-elay. Mr G. J. Anderson, M.P., returned from the north this morning. Mr J. A. Frc,stick arrived from the north this morning. Mr G. H. Scales arrived from Wellington to-day. Brigadier-General Robin and Sur-geon-General Henderson arrived from the north this morning. Captain J. P. Rainey, marine superintendent of the Commonwealth and Dominion Line, arrived from the north to-day. Mr A. Wade, conductor of the Wanganui Garrison Band, will leave for Australia this week for the purpose of adjudicating at the Ballarat contest. Messrs M. Kelly, W. D. Kelly and A. M'Douall (Wellington), and E. M. Webb (Dunedm) are in Christchurch, and are staying at the Clarendon. On Friday the Mayor of Ash burton, Mr Robert Galbraith, underwent an operation for an internal trouble. He is now making rapid progress towards recovery. Mr -T. Oakley-Browne, late of the " Northern Advocate," Wbangarei. who has been on a visit to England, returned to AVpllingto.u on Saturday by the Arawa from London. Messrs O. A. Loughnan (Palrncrston North), and K. C. AVelsh (Sydney) arrived from the north by the ferry steamer this morning, and are staying at Warner's.
