TO Tit" EDITOK. &ir.—The apathy of the elect or*. in regard to the appro-a<- ! iing elections t& to some extent accounted "for on the "•round' of satisfaction with the present Mayor and councillors. At the moment it seems fairly evident that the® Mayor and each of the retiring councillors who are offering themselves will be re-elected. The only ward in which, there is likely to be any doubt as to the result is Linwood, where it is probable that Labour will secure another seat. As for the Centra.!, Sydenham and St Albans "Wards. well, the contest is practically settled. I suppose there must always br a number of tho«« who "'also started." hut it seems a pity that, the city s-hould ta saddled' with the expense of ft contest without any prospect of gain accruing.—I am. etc..
