—» QUEEN'S THEATRE. A drama, cntitied "Tim R-oador of Minds " was t.lio principal film screened at the Queen's Picture Theatre yesterday. A young nrm.y lieutenant invented a machine which would destroy battleships at long range, but tlm plans wcro intercepted' by a foreign spy. "When tho lieutenant submitted his plans to his superior officer. he was surprised to find that his chief hold in his hands a photograph of similar pia.ns supplied to a foreign Government. Suspicion fell on tho young officer, who could offer no explanation. Finally a lady friend employed as an exchange girl at a big hotel intercepted a telephone message, and was able to clear up tho mystery. "His Talented Wife' and "Lizzie, the Life Savor." humorous pieces, '"Bully Bo.v No- 4,'' a caricature, and pieces entitled " With Our Territorials" and' the "Topical Budget " completed the programme. Tho same pictures will be. shown to-day. GRAND THEATRE. "For the Honour of Belgium," <n exceedingly up-to-date drama., beaded the list of'films at the Grand Continuous Picture Theatre yesterday. Two young Englishmen on n walking toui in Belgium, unexpectedly received th<: news of Germany's declaration of wav on Belgium. They came upon an old gentleman and Ins daughter l>eing maltreated by Germans and went, to the rescue. They were overcome by numbers. however. and were imprisoned with the old gentleman and his daughter in a stable. They succeeded, however. in effecting r.n escape and barricaded themselves in a house. With weapons found at hand they kept, th.v enemy at boy until the ammunition gave out. The girl in the meantime went for help on a stolen troop horse, and relief .arrived m the nick of time. The supporting films were "The Reporter on the" Case" (drama), " The Countess " (drama), " Fruit and Flowers'" (comedy) and " Lynne in Bugvilie " (comedy), fhe same programme will be shown to-day. OPERA HOUSE. The- new programme of vaudeville items presented at the. Opera, House Inst evening' by tho Fullor-Brennan management attracted a big audience, and the .various ttrrns were very favourably received. The first part of tho programme was devoted to a '' comedy costume concert" entertainment !-y the Magpies. Miss Iris Edgar scored a success in " That Beautiful Moon " : Mr Billy Maloney was heartily applauded "for his singing of "Belgium Put the Kybosh on the Kaiser," and Mr Lou Yeruon was encored for his singing of "The Hypnotising Man" and "I Parted My Hair in the Middle," responding with a patriotic recitation. Mr Clifford O'Keefe wis heard to advantage in "'Tho Late Player," and Miss Pearl Livingstone made a. really big hit in " When I'm in Revue." being twice recalled. The Barcarolle from "Tales of Hoffman," sung ■as a quartette, tho " Patent Medicines" whimsicality, first sung here by tho Court Cards, and a well-arrangod finale, "Patriotic Bazaar in Toyland," rounded off a first part that was really bright, humorous and entertaining. In the second part M'Kenzie and Guest appeared in an interesting and novel musical turn; Miss Marie Quintrell again delighted the audience with her ballad-singing and her remarkable pianoforte playing, and the Driscoll Brothers appeared in a laughable patter sketch. Sterling and Lovo made their first appearance in a cleverly written little sketch, " A-hunting We Will Go." jyid wero quite successful. Tho performance was. brought to ■& close by the " Dect.nl Riskitt-s" trapeze artists, who initiated a rope-climb-mg competition in which several members of the audience participated. The final of the competition will be contested on Friday night. The orchestra played attractive, overtures, and assisted capably with accompaniments. The programme Trill be repeated this evening. .
