BOY SCOUTS.
MEETING OF DOMINION COUNCIL
The Council of the Dominion. Boy • Scouts met at the Y.M.C.A. on Dnday nio-ht. Lieutenant-Colonel Cossgrove occupied the chair, and there were also present Sir Cecil Moon, Lieutenant* Colonel Cresswell, Mr H. S. J. Goldman, Dr Inglis and* the Rev \V. H. Uibell (honorary secretary). i Applications were received from two troops for the Kings Standard, namely, Ponsonby (Auckland) and Lytteiton. It was decided that, as neither troop had complied with the regulations, the standard should not be awarded this year. The Committee relt that the bovs deserved every credit for their splendid work, but the regulations must be strictly adhered to . Colonel Robin, the Commandant of tho New Zealand Forces, wrote regarding the registration of the Boy Scouts uniform, stating that the matter would be put before the Hon Minister of Defence for his consideration. The chairman reported that Mr Brian Morris. Magistrate in Cook Islands, had introduced the movement there. The Council confirmed his appointment as commissioner. , Captain Prictor, of Rotorua, was appointed commissioner and' Mr Morgan, of Tiron.ru, district commander. ! ■ Colonel Cresswell reported . that he attended a parade at Brooklyn (Wellington) of the Boy Scouts on tne occasion of tho presentation of the Roval Humano Society's certificates, and had represented the Council on that occasion. A New Zealand flag and ensign were presented to the troops at the same time. ! It-was decided that Sir Cecil Moon ! should be appointed deputy commissioner for the North Canterbury dis- • trict. I A motion was passed expressing the sincere regret of the members of tho Council at the untimely death of District Commander Benjamin, of Lyttelton, and also their deep sense of the loss that the Scout movement had sustained by the d°ath of one who had been so eminently successful in training boys in the principles of Scoutcraft. .! The chairman stated that he had cont veyed to the relatives of the deceased j the sincere sympathy of the members of I tho Council in their sorrow.
