The annual excursion in connection with the- St Albans District sehool took Vlaco at Ashburtou on Saturday. ■ Favoured by beautiful weather, there was a very large attendance. On arriving nt the No-license town the visitors were heartily welcomed by the Mayor, Mr H. Davis; thence they proceeded to Asbburton's lovely Domain, where the day was.spent in healthy recreations. A cricket match was played between the visitors and a local team. St Albans put up 79 (Williams 3-i, Reidlo). Ashburton replied with 67 Gloat 15, Jlarsdeii 14, Emerson 14). Reicl took »ix- wickets for St- Albans, and Pearco ; and Richards bowled best for Ashbnr- . ton. The headmaster, Mr J. Sutheri land, and all the staff attended with t the following members of the School Committee, Messrs Andrews, Cole, Hobbs, Colvilk, Fletcher, M'Farlane, A. Hassall. . No mishap occurred, tho party reaching Christehurch on the return shortly before 8 p.m.
