THE MAIN ROLLS.
AN EBB AND ROW. SOME LARGER, SOME SMALLER. The new method of preparing the electoral roll has been criticised a good deal, but tho figures 011 the main roll do not giro a clear indication of the result of the purging, for.in some cases there is an increase on. last election figures, and in others a decrease. Here are approximate figures for the main rolls of the city electorates:— .Ohristchurch East—lol4, 0500; 1911, 5300. Avon—l9l4, 7168; 1911, 8179. Ohristchurch South—l9l4, 7480; 1911, 8380. The figures for Ohristchurch North are not available. The supplementary rolls are being prepared while the main rolls are being printed. . A great deal of purging has taken place, entailing a good deal of work. In Ohristchurch North, which has a total of about 11,000 electors, it is expected that the final total will fall short of 1911.
