month a pair of woollen socks and a, j woollen body belt, gifts from Queen Mary end the women of the Empire. The Indians are generally popular in France, and Bhow great eagerness to reach the front. Features of their equipment are the great number of batteries, mountain guns and maxims carried on muleback. There are hundreds of goate in the Sikh lines in
camp. Each race has its own customs and its food brought from India. The Japanese Government has offered to provide the British and French armies with a special kind of paper, convertible into warm winter clothing, similar to that which has been worn by the Japanese soldiers with satisfactory results.
