POLICE COURT NEWS.
TO-DAY'S CASES. (Before Mr W. H. Cooper, J.P., and Mr W. Fennel 1 , J.P.) A "BEER-SPONGER." Michael Buckley pleaded guilty to drunkenness and to a charge of resisting Constable Llovd. Sub-Inspector M'Kinnon said that accused was a hotel hanger-on. and a beer-spouger. He was a public menace. While being arrested he had kicked and bitten, and tho constablo had to call for assistance. Accused bad a record and he was convicted and discharged for drunkenness, and on the second count got a month's imprisonment. DRUNKENNESS. . . A first offender was fined os, in default twenty-four hours' imprisonment. He made a statement to the effect that he had been robbed and assaulted, and was still suffering from injuries received. . ... The Bench reconsidered its decision, entering a conviction and a discharge. REMANDED. Alfred Howard was charged with failing to account for various sums of moncv amounting to £2 6s 51d Sub-Inspector M'Kinnon said that accused was at present appearing before the Supreme Court. Ho asked for a remind for a week. Tho remand was granted. TOO FAST. Claudo Cooper and Vivian Philip Hopkins were each fined 10s and costs lor motor-cycling too fast over a crotiing.
NO LIGHT. Harold Yorke was fined 7s and costs for cycling at night without a light.
