Representative Ivahn warned the House during the consideration of Mr Si ma's Exemption Clans© Repeal Bill that Groat Britain would not yield ir sho found herself in a similnr position to that confronting tho United States. The greatest of tho world's republics had become, in one year of Democratic rule, a pariah amongst nations. No people on earth were willing to sell their .birthright for a mess of such unpalatable pottage. Sir E. Grey was entirely mistaken when he stated that the system of rebates granted Canadian shippers in violation of the Washington Treaty was abandoned owing to the United States' protest. If the States granted her present demands, Great Britain's next demand would be the abandonment of fortifications on the canal.
