Acland, in reply to a question, stated that since it was impossible for a commission to cross the Mexican frontier, the .examination of Benton's body had been abandoned. A Tlospatch from Chihuahua states that a battle has commenced at Torreon. A detachment of Federals inarching out of. town engaged tho rebel outposts during the night. A rigid censorship is being observed.

American troops now are patrolling the frontier.
The Governor of California is likely to demand that the Mexicans responsible should be given up to justice. There is much ill-feeling between Americans and Mexicans in the neighbourhood.
