Up to the present the Labour propagandists of this country have contented themselves with calling upon the Government to do things, but they have made no special endeavour to helpk • , themselves. Tho Sfuckland "Waterside Workers' Union is setting a-good example. .Details of their cheap meat, schemo will bo found in our news columns to-day. It may succeed or it may not (the local butchers Regard ifc as a " flash in the pan ") but it is a step in tho right direction. If by cooperation the workers cap reduce the p.rico of living and bring accessions to their ranks in pursuit of a common practicable aim. they will do far more thai! can be achieved' by merely throwing adjectives in tho air about the "■master class." The great job of the proniotors of these schemes is to get the women buyers to stay loyal to the organisation. (That explains tho expansiyeness of the smile of the local butchers). •
