MELBOURNE SENSATION. EXPLOSION WRECKS ROOM. THREE OFFICIALS INJURED. B.v Telegraph—Association —Copyright. MELBOURNE, March 1(5. Among tho morning mails dolivercd at the Lands Department was a package addressed to a member of the Closer Settlement Board. When the package was opened a. loud explosion occurred, resulting in' injuries to Mr Frederick Loo, Closer Settlement Commissioner, and Messrs Thomas Hastio and Reginald Jones. . The room was partly wrecked, a window smashed and the ceiling shattered. Brass bullets and an explosive material supposed to be dynamite, operated by a hammer spring and percussion cap, were contained in a, small wooden box. Til© package was posted in Sydney. No'theosy is advanced as to tho cause of the outrage.
