Interest has been aroused by the statement of the driver of the Temora mail train to the effect that the distant .signal was down when he passed it, as by means, of tho interlocking system it had been made' impossible to lower tho distant signal while the home signal was at danger. The .homo signal was at danger at'the time of the smash."
In.the opinion '-of an expert, cold setting in after a hot day might have contracted, the wire sufficiently to lower the distant signal.
