THE WEATHER.

The sky in and around Christclmrcli this morning exhibited signs of unsettled weather conditions. But later on in the day the sky cleared, and the light easterly breeze, that was blowing was not sufficient to cool the warm atmosphere. Generally speaking:, New Zealand is still'enjoying bright summer conditions, and the winds are light or practically calm. At Auckland a blue sky prevailed. All northernmost stations reported blue skies and light southerly winds'. The sky was clear at East Cape. Clear blue skies and calm weather were in evidence at Gisborne and- Napier. Hazy conditions prevailed at Cape Egmont and Cape Palliser. Light northerlies were blowing at "Wanganui and Wellington, and bright summer conditions were experienced.

A blue sky was reported from Westport, accompanied by a light southerly breeze. The sky was overcast at Gvsymouth. Timaru and Oamaru reported blue skies and light breezes. Dunedin enjoyed similar conditions. All stations south of Dunedin reported overcast skies and hazy conditions. The' barometer is still high throughout the dominion. Forecast for Canterbury.—Land and sea breezes ruling., Weather continue fair and warm.—F. L. Wooles. The following is the Government Meteorologist's forecast: Judications are for land and sea breezes, but moderate to strong northerlies prevailing. There is a prospect of fair weather. The barometer has little movement but has a falling tendency.
