WEATHER UNSETTLED.
The unseasonable conditions prevalent in North Canterbury during the past three days have extended their operations over the whole of Canterbury, Westland, Nelson and Marlborough and rain was reported from all stations in those districts. Otago is also experiencing unsettled weather, but this morning rain Tell only at Oaniaru. Clear skies were being reported in Southland. Rain was general in all portions of the North Island except in and north of Auckland city, where blue skies were in evidence. The barometer throughout the dominion was low and the winds in most cases were moderate to strong, and, with few exceptions, were from the north to east. The coastal stations for the most part reported heavy seas, the exceptions being only on the weast coasts of both islands.
The following is the Lrovernment meteorologist's forecast: "Easterly winds, strong to gale, backing by east to south. The weather appears likely to be cloudy and unsettled, and further heavy rain is to be expected. Rivers high. Barometer falling, but rise after forty-eight hours."
