In a. new "graft" investigation, involving several police officials, it wa't discovered by District Attorney Whitman that the gang operated by wiretapping methods. They pretended that they used wireleas telegraphy in order to secure important news for blackmail and other purposes. One woman confessed to losing £BO,OOO. Other confessions are expected. In each instance llio police secured 10 per cent of the proceeds of the swindle.
