A system of audible signals has been installed between Paddington and Reading stations. The driver receives notification of the position of the signals. If everything is all right a bell rings in the engine cab. , If the signal is at danger a whistle blows and brakes are applied automatically. If the apparatus fails in any particular another distinct signal warns the driver. The system will be gradually extended throughout the Groat Western Railway.
