OF A PAST AGE.
THE SEDITION CHARGE. LAfiKIN CASE DEBATE. RELEASE DEMANDED. By Telegraph—Trent Assooiatioo—Copyright. LONDON, November 12. The " Chronicle" states that Larkin's imprisonment has oocupied the attention of the Cabinet. The strongest resentment is shown by the Liberal Party over the matter. Representations have been made to the Government by some of its most influential supporters. The Cabinet is not responsible for Larkin's prosecution, which was due to the gross ineptitude of Dublin Castle. The " Chroniole " adds: " Doubtless when the Cabinet receives a report Larkin will be released. The charge of sedition belongs to a past age, when free speech was unknown and before popular liberties were established." The " Daily News" expresses similar opinions. The executive of the Miners' Federation has protested against the imprisonment. The Bishop of Oxford, writing to a meeting of protest, said that Larkin should be immediately released.
