MARKET REPORTS.

GRAIN AND PRODUCE. CHMSTCHURCK, November 11. Considering that the city ia in the midst of the annual carnival and that the strike has for the time being put an end to oversea trade, it is only natural that business should be practically non-existent. Previous to the commencement of the labour troubles business had reached a very low ebb, but a few parcels were still passing between the islands; but with the interruption of tho steamer services even this ha« come to an end, and the 'small amount of business now passing is for purely local requirements. Wheat is offering very scantily from growers, and for the most part merchants are indifferent about purchasing whilst the outlets continue blocked. Prices, however, continue firm at quotations. Oats are weak. Many merchants who purchased fairly extensively earlier in the season and who have so far been unable to quit at a profit have now decided to reduce their stocks even should this involve a sacrifice, and some sales have been made at 3d per bushel below first cost. As in the .case of wheat, growers' offerings are far from extensive. The potato market is quiet, with very*little business doing. There are inquiries from tho North Island and the West Coast, but in the absence of shipping facilities business is out jof tho question. Prices are nominally unchanged.
