FATAL FIRE.
MOTHER AND CHILD PERISH. [Per pßfcss Association.] AUCKLAND, May 16. The residence at Waitananui occupied by Mi* and Mrs King and family, was destroyed by fire k\st night. All escaped except a five-year-old child. Mrs King re-entered the burning building in a heroic attempt to rescu • her child, but both perished. The charred remains of both wore found together.
