Mr David Sturrock, for nineteen years headmaster of the Blenheim borough schools, has been appointed inspector for Marlborough. There were fourteen applications for the position. The death occurred at Brighton Beach. Melbourne, on Friday last, of an old resident of Christchurch, Mrs Lijcy Glnswi, aged seventy-eight. She was'the widow of the Rev Henry Glasson, 8.A., chaplain of the Royal Nary, and at one time vicar of Avonside. The deceased lady was a. daughter of the late Captain Thomas Lewis, B.N. She leaves nine children, thirty-eight grandchildren and several great-grandchil-flren.
