ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
A STRANGE MISHAP. [Pes Press Association.] DUNEDIN, April 28. An inquest was held at the Morgue this afternoon' upon the body of George Newton Wilson, aged forty-three years, who died suddenly yesterday afternoon. The evidence of his wife showed that he was a marine engineer and had been in poor health for about two years, complaining of sciatica and his heart. On April 23 he consulted Dr Maepherson, who prescribed. On Sunday he seemed quite hearty and she went out, at his suggestion, leaving him in bed with a paper. She returned to rind him dead. The evidence of Dr Macpherson disclosed the fact that death had been caused by a curious mishap. Mrs Wilson had stated that deceased had had an unusually big meal at midday on Sunday, and the doctor found that the stomach contained an enormous quantity of food, while upon opening the larynx he found about a tablespoonful of the stomach's contents in it. The man had gone to sleep upon an overloaded stomach and had brought up a mouthful of food which had gone back into the air passages. The Coroner (Mr C C. Graham) returned a verdict of death from suffocation as a result of vomit entering the air passages.
