ASPENDALE CAR FATALITY.
DRIVER. ARRESTED. United Pross Association—By Electric Tolcgraph—Copyright. (Received February 4, 10 a.m.) MELBOURNE, February 4. Tn connection with the Aspondo-le motor fatality. Albert Lewis, tho driver of tho car, was arrested on a charge of manslaughter. He says that when he saw tho light, which Mr Parkinson was carrying, lie tried to avoid it by pulling to the left hand, but when lie swerved tho car dashed into the pedestrians. He thought the light wa,s attached to a cart, and made allowance for the vehicle to pass. When the occupants of the car recovered from tho first shock they endeavoured to help the injured.
