The manager of the team was communicated with, and he replied that nine men would go, and the secretary of the ; local Association telegraphed to Napier accepting a match on the terms offered. Yesterday afternoon a further telegram was received' from the manager of the team, stating that Carlton would not be available, and that other members of the team were not very anxious to make the trip. The executive committee met and decided to inform the manager that the trip would be made it nine men were available, but that otherwise it would be abandoned. A ■ telegram to that effect crossed one from the manager stating- that only eight men could make the trip. The committee will meet at the secretary's office at 9.45 <?' clock this morning, and the decision arrived at will be communicated to the manager of the team at Feilding, for it started on the return journey from Auckland last night.
