Queensland in the first innings scored 330 (Sheppard 42, Thompson 116, Evans 75). Matthews i took three wickets for 107 _ runs and I Armstrong four for 73. Victoria, in I the first innings, has lost one wicket for 12 runs.

THE HA WEE'S BAY MATCH. NOT FINALLY DECIDED "UPON. I Matters in connection with the proposed Canterbury v. Hawke's Bay match have not yet reached finality. The executive committee of the local Association, at its meeting on Thursday, discussed the request of the Hawke's Bay Association that the team playing in Auckland _ should play a match in Napier on its way back to Christchurch. It was decided to grant the match provided at least nine members of the team could, make the trip. The manager of the team was communicated with, and he replied that nine men would go, and the secretary of the ; local Association telegraphed to Napier accepting a match on the terms offered. Yesterday afternoon a further telegram was received' from the manager of the team, stating that Carlton would not be available, and that other members of the team were not very anxious to make the trip. The executive committee met and decided to inform the manager that the trip would be made it nine men were available, but that otherwise it would be abandoned. A ■ telegram to that effect crossed one from the manager stating- that only eight men could make the trip. The committee will meet at the secretary's office at 9.45 <?' clock this morning, and the decision arrived at will be communicated to the manager of the team at Feilding, for it started on the return journey from Auckland last night.
