CANTERBURY JOCKEY CLUB.

■» S UMM Kit MEETING. The summer meeting of the Canterbury Jockey Club will bo held at Riccarton to-morrow. This lixture never attracts much attention from visiting owners, and tlio Holds are generally drawn almost exclusively from local htables. For to-morrow's meeting there was a fairly good entry of horses from other parts, and though tlio Wellington representatives have all been allowed to drop out, there will still be sufficientopposition from other districts to give additional interest to the racing. Ilio fields, taken on tlio whole, are much smaller than seemed probable, but there is material for some good contests. In the Midsummer Handicap recent winnine; form is represented by Coroniiorm, Parable, Muniura, Tannhauser and Anna Carlovna, while the Cornet and. Gnome are both galloping so welt tiiat their prospects oi playing a prominent part seem' bright. Coroniforrn has improved a lot since last lie raced at 1' 1C " carton, but his form at Trentham last week was so good that, even with Ins big weight,, he will havo plenty of admirers. The three-year-old Anna Carlovna has run some excellent races lately, but her ability to stay the journey out has to bo taken on trust. The Craven Plate looks like providing a very keen strugglo, and wyth such speedy horses as Pilgrim's \Vay, »ea King and Query in the iield, a sound pace should be assured. Moro than usual interest attaches to the Middle Park Plate. The nine horses still i engaged represent five different stables, and the iield promises to be the best seen out in this event for several years, though the absence of Bon Reve, due to-a mishap at Trentham last week, will rob tho race of a strong attraction. Autumnus, who was the crack two-year-i old of last season, but whose three-year-old form has been disappointing, has been galloping well lately, and, Nightwatch, a two-year-old ironi tlie ! same stable, has also been moving attractively in his work, eo that, bir George Clifford seems to have an excellent chance of adding to his fine record in this event, which ho has won sis years in succession. Fender anct Warstep both showed smart form m tho spring, but Warstep, who has had a spell since November,'may not be forward enough to do herself justice. Mr J. B. Reid lias two representatives, ot. whom Salzburg registered two'good performances at Trentham. Mr u v. Greenwood's pair are both maidens, but they have both shown on the tracks that they are smart gallopers, and they should play a big part in the result. The first race will be started at 1 p.m. The following is the programme TRIAL HANDICAP, of 130 sovs; second horse 25 aovs iwict third horse 10 sovs from the stake.
