WOMAN'S WORLD.

C 0 R 31£ SF O H DENTS' LETTEftS. AXIQiZhtIW. The Governor nnd Lady Liverpool, during liis week, have paid us a Hying visit, and went welcomed at a civic Function in Iho Concert Chamber of tho Town Hull. A guard of honour was formed by the Empire Veterans' Association, and, pnaeuially at the appointed t inio tlio vice-regal party arrived. This was really tlio first good glimpso wo h:ivo Had of Lord and Laciv Liverpool, and all our meukiud arc enchanted with the latter on account of the extreme simplicity and good taste displayed in her dressing. In the afternoon there was a Icveo at Government House, when thero was- a large attendance, amongst tho number being tho Prime Minister and General Godley. _ A most successful party has been {riven by Mrs C. Buddie, Havelnck Street, which took the form of. private theatricals. Dr Bamford was stupe manager, and gained 'groat praise for tho clever and humorous manner in which he carried out bis duties. Most charming was the living picture shown of eight pretty girls in Eastern costumes, gracefully reclining on cushions, smoking; a few of the sterner sax, in white and scarlet, making an effective background. They sung in chorus " My Ceylon Girl," from " The Cingalcc," Mr Guy Pierce taking the solo part. The next picture showed tho same girls, without the men, and, sitting on the cushions in pairs, they sang tho " Tea Cup Chorus" from the same opera. Those who took part in theso two pictures were Miss Una Buddie, Miss Janet Ogle, Miss Phyllis Bonit, Miss Bay Tolo, Miss Norah Moore, Miss Gladys Buddie, and Miss Margaret Tole. Then followed some really good card and other tj'ieks by Mr Noel Bamford, and items from others of our clever amateur actors. Hie - supper table was effectively decorated with, masses of scarlet geranium. Mrs Buddie was wearing a smart frock of black charmeuse, with touches of white on the corsage ; Mr 3 Hope Lewis, silver grey charmeuse, with overdress ~of embroidered ninon, and black tulle in her hair;' Mrs Archie Clark,_ black satin and white ninon; MJrs Sidney ,Thorne George, pale pink satin; Mrs Fred Waller, pale blue charmeuse, veiled with grey ninon'; Mis John Burns, pink and white floral silk frock; Mrs Gordon, pale blue satin, with , overdress of black and white ninon and lace; Mrs.Edmunds, pale blue satin, with overdress of ninon, embroidered in gold and silver; and Miss Jessi'e Reid, black and white.
