■ « . The Christchurch Gun Club held three Monte' Carlo sweepstakes matches to-day, preliminary to the Grand National Pigeon Match, to be held on Monday. Veteran marksmen from all parts of the dominion took part in the three matches. Aniongi those present were E. P. Graham, ex-cham-pion of New Zealand, and W. Duncan, vicepresident of the Now Zealand Gun Club Association, who shot in the three matches, Mr W. Oassin was referee, and Mr E. F._ Stead secretary; The following are the results:— Invitation Handicap; first miss to count out; £2O prize; 23 competitors—At the tenth round A; Gardiner (2Gyds), W. * Woolven (26yds), J. Ttae (20yds) and E, P. Stead (27yds) had killed all their birds, and agreed to divide. Waimairi Handicap ;£2O prize; 25 competitors—At the eighth round W. Grant (27yds), J T :.Rae (23vds), H. Jensen (27yds), C. Shallcr'ass (22yds) and W. Woolven (26yds) had killed : all their birds, and each took £1 out of tho prize and shot on. On the eleventh round''only J. Rae had missed his bird, and the remaining four divided the money. Farewell Handicap; prize £2O; 27* competitors—At tho .eleventh round 13. F. Stead (27yds), J, Rae (23yds), E. Brown (23yds) and E. P. Graham (30yds) had killed all their birds, and eaoh took £2 from the prize money and shot on. At the fourteenth round Graham lost a bird, which struck the enclosure and fell over, the boundary. At the twenty-second round Ste'nd and, Rao di-, Tided the balance of the money.
