THE CAKE OF EDEN.
Here is a recipe for matrimony cake, specially . recommended for young brides. Five pounds of devotion, three pounds of extract of faithfulness, four quarts of -heartfelt satisfaction, one pound each-of prudence. and good nature, two pounds each of confidence and mutual forbearance, some matrimonial fidelity, eight ounces each of gentleness and modesty, three quarts of enjoyment,. patience - and industry and economy in unlimited quantities (cannot be too much); fifteen ounces of wisdom and experience, a gallon of milk of human kindness, five pints of cream of excellence, some of good 6ense; spice well with sweetness of disposition, mix thoroughly with cheerfulness, pour into the golden bowl of domestic happiness, lubricated with the oil of gladness and baked in the oven of double blessedness, heated by the fire of true love. This will keep for ever in a warm place.
