ANGLICAN CATHEDRAL CHOIR

EX-CHORISTERS' GATHERING. The. annual meeting of the Christchurch Anglican Cathedral Choir Old Members' Association was held last night. A service was held ir. tho Cathedral at 5.30, at which u large number of the ex-choristers wore present. Tho canticles wero sung to the setting in C by Sir George Martin and the anthem was Beethoven's " Hallelujah Chorus," from the Mount of" Olives. After the service the members and ex-members of the choir adjourned to Broadway's room's for tea, annual meeting and social gathering. Dean Harper occupied the chair, and there were forty-seven members present. The annual report stated that the membership of the Association had increased from eighty-six to ninety-five, which was satisfactory considering the small source of supply. The treasurer this year had a balance in hand of £G <ls 6d. There were four classes of members in the Association, those who attended the re-union and paid _ their subscriptions, those who did neither, those who did not attend and yet paid their subscripions and those who attended and left their subscriptions unpaid. Last year tho re-union cost 4s 6d per head. During the year £5 was handed to the choir Leys for recreation purposes, following on the recommendation passed at the annual gathering. This money was, for the most part, 'spent in cricket material, and went a long way towards helping the boys in their sports." The committee deeply regretted to reoorfe the death of Rev. C. H. Moreland, M.A., late headmaster of Christ's College. Mr Moreland had taken a keen interest in the choir hoyp, and his loss would bo greatly felt.
