o- • [From Otjr Correspondent.] GREYMOUTH, August 8. The resignation of Dr Griffen as medical officer in South West?and was received by the Westland Charitable Aid Board last night. The orders received for coal from the Point Elizabeth State mine are considerably in c-xoess of the supply. Some difficulty is being experienced in fulfilling oversea orders, and one or two instances have been cited in which great difficulty is experienced in getting the coal aboard beats in port, in order to prevent unnecessary detention of ships awaiting supplies. The supply to Grey dealers 's also considerably restricted, and one or two private orders have been kept waiting: for several days. In fact, it is stated the shipping needs are so pressing at the present time, that local demands will be further delayed for several days pending the fulfilment of shipping requirements. A West Coast Iron Workers' Union, with headquarters at Greymout.h, has Oeen registered under the Conciliation and Arbitration Act. An application for an industrial agreement has been made, and will be dealt with at an early date.
