At Leicester to-day the South African team commenced a match against Leicestershire. The visitors batted fiist, and the innings closed for a total of 125 runs, Faulkner (33), Whito (20), Taylor (17), Nourso (16) and Strieker (15) being responsible for practically the whole of the score. King was chiefly responsible for the downfall of the wickets, taking five wickets at a cost of 52 runs. The home team made a weak display, the last wicket falling before the score had reached the lialf-century. Knight was the only batsman able to resist the attack, making 23 in good stj T le. Pegler and Faulkner bowled unchanged, the former taking four wickets at a cost of 20 runs and tho latter six wickets for 23 runs. On going in again the South Africans lost one wickot at a cost of seven runs, Taylor being stumped by Shields when ho had made a couple. Owing to the duskiness stumps were then drawn for the day.
