CULVERDEN-WAIAU RAILWAY

( [Pin Press Association.] WELLINGTON, August 9. A deputation this morning urged on the Premier claims for the extension of the Culverden-Waiau railway by fourteen miles. Mr Massey said he knew the locality, and agreed that the line would pay from the day of opening. He would go to the length 6f saying that the settlers were entitled to the line, and the representations of the deputation would receive full consideration. He did not know whether the Government would be able to bring down a Railway Authorisation Bill this session, but if such a Bill were promoted the claims of the deputation would bo given full consideration. The Minister of Public Works concurred with what the Premier had said.
